Job Description Summary Responsible for the editorial content, design, production, and publication of the Babson Magazine in print and online. Essential Responsibilities o Develops editorial content and design (for print and web), working with content writers, designers, and Institutional Marketing. Monitors and/or attends newsworthy campus events; stays informed about Babson programs and initiatives; tracks alumni developments; follows trends in business world. Stays on top of design trends in consumer and college/university publishing. o Edits all content; researches and writes articles and sections; assists with fact-checking. o Works with designers to develop and execute art for the print issue, including brainstorming ideas for photos and illustrations, attending photo shoots, and approving art (photos, illustrations) and layouts. Also, when appropriate, works with web designers to create online content. o Working with the content team, determines content for the web site, including repurposing print copy and creating web-only exclusives. o Directs and supervises production of the magazine, including developing deadlines and production schedules; and proofreading and finalizing pages. o Works with Creative Services and campus clients to organize advertisements. o Negotiates with vendors to produce, print, and distribute the quarterly magazine. o Monitors fiscal-year magazine budget. Reviews and approves all invoices for payment. o Helps manage alumni, parent, and campus requests regarding the magazine. o Assumes additional responsibilities as required. Minimum Experience Education Requirements: Minimum Level of Education Required Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English, or Communications Position Knowledge/Skills & Abilities Requirements: o At least 5-10 years of experience. o Excellent oral and written communication skills. o Excellent editing and proofreading skills. o Strong financial, supervisory, and management skills. o Ability to work with all constituencies. o Strong computer skills, including proficiency in InDesign and Microsoft Office (especially Word). o Envisions and proposes new methods to perform tasks that support ET&A; takes thoughtful risks; and accepts new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results. o Anticipates and embraces change; demonstrates willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions. Working Conditions: o May be required to work some nights and weekends. o Must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver's License for one year, and maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College's insurer's criteria) or a satisfactory driving record; must successfully complete and pass the College's vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment; annual or more frequent review of employee's driving record based on the College insurer's criteria; and safety training as required by management. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
